BGE has partnered with Hunter Douglas and Rollease Acmeda, industry-leading custom window treatment manufacturers, to offer customers a chance to participate in our Smart Shade Pilot Program.* Participants can get up to 10 automated window shades for west- and south-facing windows**—an estimated $700-$1,200 value —at no additional cost!

As a participant, you'll receive either manufacturer’s most popular style of automated shades that seamlessly integrate with whole-home automation systems. Up to 30% of a home's heating and cooling energy can be lost through its windows (source). Hunter Douglas and Rollease Acmeda shades are specially engineered to reduce energy loss through the windows, lower heating and cooling bills and improve home comfort.

You can also customize your shades by choosing either light-filtering or room-darkening fabric options in a variety of colors. Plus, when you enroll, professional installation and setup by the manufacturer’s local dealer will be included—all at no cost to you.

To be considered for the pilot, please complete the interest survey via the link included in your invitation email. By completing the survey, you agree to the pilot's terms and conditions. After completion, a program representative may reach out to discuss your project expectations. If selected, you will be notified within 7-10 business days by the manufacturer's installing contractor to schedule next steps. If you are not selected, there are still plenty of other Smart Energy Savers Program offerings to take part in to start saving energy and money!

Eligibility

1. Must be a BGE customer in good standing.
2. Must reside in a single-family home or individually metered townhouse or condominium that has up to 10 west- and/or south-facing windows.
3. Must have resided in your current residence for at least 12 months.
4. Must not have any plans for major renovations through 2021.
5. Must have a smart meter.
6. Must have active wi-fi capability and a smart phone.
7. Must participate in all pilot surveys.
8. Must consent to an analysis of your energy consumption for the 12 months prior to the pilot and 12 months after the pilot so that potential energy savings can be evaluated.

*Selected participants will be contacted by the manufacturer’s local dealer to schedule initial appointments for measurements. Smart Shades must be installed in your residence within the BGE service territory and remain in your home for 12 months. You’re responsible for costs associated with any additional products or services outside of the pilot offering. You also must commit to completing periodic surveys regarding your experience participating in the pilot and share your BGE electric and/or natural gas usage data following the pilot to help us determine the energy savings associated with the program.

**Hunter Douglas Window shades maximum: 80 sq. ft. for cellular shades; 64 sq. ft. for roller shades. Rollease Acmeda Window shades maximum: 120" x 120" for roller shades.
